I'm going to be unoriginal and a bad influence and say that I ADORE the band/guitar/karaoke games. I like Lego Rock Band better than Rock Band itself, though I do like being able to buy additional songs of my choosing (can't do it with Lego, only with RB). I am not as familiar with the songs on RB as I am with Band Hero, but Band Hero kind of sucks. I love the American Idol Karaoke Revolution thing, but now you can only get it on eBay and the like. If you do end up with drums/guitar stuff, don't get the ones that require you to put a wiimote inside the instrument. That just means you have to have extra wiimotes, after having bought the instruments. I am also a big fan of Wii Sports (Tennis and Bowling) and Raving Rabbids (though for this, each player has to have a wiimote and a nunchuck, which is annoying). I want to get the Trivial Pursuit, and I freely admit to being quite good at Scene It - Twilight. I want a good flight sim game, and am trying to decide what to get. Let me know if you end up with any games you would recommend!

Maybe it's a sign of my aging brain, but when I first read your post Lotta I interpreted it as you sneaking the batteries out of the box after the boxes were wrapped -- I was like "whoa, howtf did you manage *that* without anyone noticing?"

I noticed that batteries started to come with some toys just a few years ago, and more and more so recently. They may be cheapy batteries that don't last long, but at least they allow you (or the kid) to play with the new toy right away. I just bought remote control toys for my boys for Christmas, and they came with not only the rechargable battery (which was not ready to go, but I felt SO smart because I snuck them out of the boxes and charged for 24 hours before hand), but also a regular disposable battery that was required for the remote.

It's definitely an awesome movie, I found it in the $4.99 bin at Best Buy a few weeks ago and promptly snatched it up :D

Good point re the non-standard batteries. I was actually surprised they were powered by standard AAs, and even a wireless sensor bar I got uses AAAs. No weird battery packs or stuff like that.

I'll keep pondering :) On a related note, since you're a fellow Wii owner -- any suggestions on Wii games or accessories I should get? (when I get a job over the summer and corresponding $$ of course  )

Man, I love that movie. I should own that.

The first things I remember that came with batteries were the things that had abnormal batteries, like my Hello Kitty landline phone and my digital camera. I don't have any data, but it seems like things started switching to batteries-included when it became less certain what kind of batteries a thing would use. When I got my Wii, I had assumed the wiimotes would have special non-standard batteries, so I also assumed they would come with them. It's an interesting question...
